So, only using "live" gets me into a nice GUI display. Now in the install, it quickly moves passed the "kernel cert" error and a couple other errors, and display from ATI RAGE 128 card for text is very crisp, but the background image and other image files are blotchy and color changes are not rendered smoothly . . . ???? I had this or a similar issue in a Lubuntu 14.04 live DVD on my iBook G4, text rendered perfectly, but images were blurry and rough . . . . Any thoughts for how this might be fixed?
