Disabling the system tray completely seems a bit of a backwards step. Like you, I am no QT expert. Although it is on my to-do list to learn. So if anyone can help identify what makes Ubuntu Studio freeze if Qjackctl was minimised before upgrade, it would be appreciated.
Otherwise, uploading the debdiff version where Qjackctl is compiled with QT4 seems the best option for users.
