Thank you for your bug report. Unity should notice when the .desktop on
disk is removed and clean the launcher icon then. Is that not working
for you? Could you try with more recent versions?

Title:
Unity Launcher icons not removed when software is removed using
  Software Center

Status in Unity:
  Incomplete
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When removing some installated software using the Ubuntu Software
Center in 12.04, the icons for the removed software remained on the
Unity Launcher. Of course can remove them "manually," but they should
be automaticaly removed when a user removes the software using Ubuntu
  Software Center.
