Hi all,

One final plug for UC Santa Cruz’s upcoming Open Source Symposium: did you know
that remote participation is completely free? We are also able to offer
in-person fee waivers for UC-affiliates and potentially other faculty if you
are local.

Sessions of Particular Interest to the TOS Community

Tuesday, 9/27: Any and all of it!
I’m really excited about this year’s emphasis on diversity, community, and
education; we’ll have some great industry speakers, as well as panels on
academic open source program offices and teaching open source. (Heidi Ellis &
Greg Hislop of TOS will be joining the latter panel!)

Wednesday, 9/28: 2:00-3:30pm Pacific Time
Birds of a Feather session on growing open source communities with student
participation. This BoF will feature a talk from Steve Huss-Lederman of Open
Energy Dashboard, followed by open discussion about challenges and best
practices of growing projects. It would be wonderful to have more TOS community
members join us… please come share your wisdom, experiences, and quandaries for
us to ponder!
