Hi All, I am teaching an upper-level CS course called Open Source Software Engineering at Berea College. The students will be learning to contribute to Runestone Academy (https://runestone.academy/) which is a platform for free interactive CS and math books. Their repos are hosted on Github (https://github.com/RunestoneInteractive).
The last time I taught this course, one student team contributed "dark mode", which is now one of the most popular features on the site. Other teams increased the navigability, and Still others made the site more accessible. My course is hosted on Github (https://pearcej.github.io/csc426/) and the previous offering is archived (https://pearcej.github.io/csc426/index-f19.html.) [EXTERNAL SENDER] Hi Folks, As many academic institutions have or soon will start their fall terms, I thought it would be fun to share any classes in which students are participating in open source. In the interest of sharing materials and seeing what people are doing, I'll begin. I'm teaching a senior-level Software Engineering course. We're working on software for the Western New England University food pantry (Bear Necessities Market) which is part of the LibreFoodPantry community [0]. I'm hosting the class on GitLab [1]. I will be teaching a follow-on capstone course which will contribute to Bear Necessities Market as well [2]. Who else is teaching using open source?
