Hi Folks,

Kinnis Gosha has provided an update on the Open Doors X Open Source project:

The Atlanta University Center Data Science Initiative was the recipient of a
recent grant from the Alford P. Sloan Foundation to infuse Open Source Software
Development programming across the consortium. Principal Investigators Drs.
Talitha Washington and Kinnis Gosha oversaw the 10-week postdoctoral program
(Open Doors x Open Source) that provided an open-source development learning
experience for 32 underrepresented computing graduates from various schools
across the nation. The goal of the program is to leverage open-source software
development to increase the number of underrepresented minorities who enter
careers as software engineers. Additional funding to support the program was
provided by Expedia Group and Dell Technologies. The Atlanta University Center
Consortium is comprised of four Historically Black Colleges and Universities
(HBCUs): Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of
Medicine, and Spelman College.
