It was definitely a manual conversion. If I were doing it again, I'd
look in to converting from MediaWiki to AsciiDoc, which can support
DocBook as well.

Doing an update of the DocBook wouldn't be too difficult, just time
consuming. It would involve doing a history check of the wiki, see the
diff in content between the current and when the DocBook snapshot was
taken, and manually changing content in the XML. The toolchain can be
straight DocBook or the fancier Publican toolchain that Fedora Project
et al use.
