I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in teaching one or more workshops at the Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE) 9x? There is also a Teaching Open Source-related talk. All are happening Sat/Sun 25 & 26 February in Los Angeles, CA.
Unfortunately, I have to bow out of my attendance of SCALE 9x[1], and I have been organizing these two workshops, have arranged participation in the Open Source Software in Education (OSSIE) track, and had agreed to give another talk instead of Mel and Sebastian. Before I cancel them outright, I wanted to see if anyone else might be interested in running with the opportunities. If you are interested in taking over any of these Teaching Open Source sessions, please let me know and I can see about arranging that to happen. I can continue to do logistical work to make the events happen, I just can't be there in person. The workshops: * One POSSE QA module using Sugar - full set of XOs running Sugar and GNOME are going to be available. Organizational and publicity work still needed. http://www.teachingopensource.org/index.php/POSSE_workshop_SCALE9x * "How to teach the open source way" - a new, hybrid workshop introducing The Open Source Way handbook, then working for 2 hours with the group on a writing/editing sprint. Curriculum design, organizational, and publicity work still needed. https://www.theopensourceway.org/wiki/How_to_teach_the_open_source_way_-_workshop_SCALE9x The talks: * At 11:30 am on Saturday Caryl Bigenho is going to be talking at OSSIE about Sugar and the OLPC project. I was going to be there to give a plug for the mini-POSSE on Sunday. * At 3 pm on Sunday, Mel and Sebastian asked me to give this talk: Decentralized Collaboration with Open Source Tools: Technical and Cultural Implementation http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale9x/presentations/decentralized-collaboration-open-source-tools-technical-and-cultural-implementation Thanks - Karsten [1] Basically for the same reason I had to miss FUDCon this year, my sweetie has been sick and needs me here. http://iquaid.org/2011/01/30/fudcon-from-far-afield/ -- name: Karsten 'quaid' Wade, Sr. Community Gardener team: Red Hat Community Architecture uri: http://TheOpenSourceWay.org/wiki gpg: AD0E0C41
