We have 2 PCs (Win10, Win7) pulling from an SVN repo; one of the PCs is able to
pull down a subdirectory using the following procedure:

1) Right-click our top-level repo
2) Select TortoiseSVN->Repo Browser
3) Right-click the subdirectory in question
4) Select "Check out" - other options left at default
5) Window shows a list of files that are pulled down
6) Local hard-drive contains repo files

Now on the PC where this isn't working (Win7), at step 5), the window says that
the checkout worked but it shows 0 files.

In the past, we had SVN working fine on both PCs.

We've tried updating the Win7 PC to the latest TortoiseSVN version; same
symptom.

To debug, we tried checking out a subdirectory of the subdirectory with issues
(i.e. a sub-sub-directory). Then we get an error message: "is already a working
copy for a different URL".

What does this mean? What actions might have caused this state?

Is there a simple recovery procedure?
