I have just installed TortoiseSVN 1.9.7 on my home computer so I can test drive
commands and usage for work repository.

Following along with the tutorial I was then attempting to "CHECKOUT" a working
copy to my working folder and do not have any icon overlays?

System Information

Windows 10 with 64 bit os

Tortoise settings icon overlays status cache set to "shell"

Has anyone encountered this and what is the possible fix?

Thank you for getting back to me Stefan I had already been to that faq page and
tried all the solutions provided.
I did try a little experiment in which i installed my repository on a portable
usb device to get around our work network backups. I was able to see the icons
and complete the tutorial but when i tried the same with the home pc i
described previously i was still unable to see ANY icon overlays? could this
have something to do with windows defender or webroot software i am running at
home? keep in mind webroot is somewhat dormant as i do not have this particular
pc connected to the internet at this time. So it is only running a weekly file
scan on only files i introduce with portable device? That seems to be the only
logical variable in that I downloaded Tortoise svn directly from the website so
i should have a clean copy of 1.9.7 Any ideas as to a solution would be
GREATLY appreciated!

Thank You
Ray B
