I'm not able to authenticate to do a SVN Checkout using TortoiseSVN Version 1.7.7, Build 22907 - 64 Bit on Windows 8. I think the problem is related to the new user accounts in Windows 8, called Online Microsoft Account - which is a Windows Live ID. I've set up a Visual SVN Server on my Windows Home Server, which uses normal user accounts. On my Windows 7 machine, I'm having no problem authenticating to the same server using the same version of TortoiseSVN, when signed in using the same credentials on both client machine and server machine. What happens on my Windows 8 machine, is that the authentication dialog pops up when I do a SVN Checkout. I enter the credentials of my normal Windows Account (since that's the credentials used on the server), and when I click OK, the dialog closes and reopens without any error message. I suppose this is the normal behavior when illegal credentials are entered. I've entered credentials in several ways:
- <username> - <server>\<username> - <username>@<server> My Visual SVN Server is set up with read/write access for Everyone. I've experienced the same problem for months now, and finally decided to report it since Windows 8 has RTM'd and will be out soon. BTW I've experienced problems using Git on my Windows 8 machine earlier. That problem was caused by the name of my user's home folder, which contains special Norwegian characters that was not supported by Git Bash. Unfortunately there's no good way to specify the name of the user account created in Windows 8 using an Online Microsoft Account. I've reported that issue to Microsoft when Windows 8 was in the Consumer Preview stage, but the issue was ignored. I don't know if TortoiseSVN depends on the user's home folder. If not, the issue must be somewhere between TortoiseSVN and Visual SVN Server when credentials must be entered in the dialog. -- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TortoiseSVN group.
