Hey everyone, I have looked more into this. sudo update-locale LANG=$VAR does indeed work, and requires a logout and login. So I will have to adapt the code and test it some more. I will try to have a working version soon. I think I will need to modify the menu to cause loging out of jwm to exit from the current shell back to the login. Then the user can log back in and see the changes.
