twitter's security configuration seems to be at war with tor. had to do multiple resets over past 24 hours, only to see a perpetual "lock" in place recently. i filed a support ticket. here's twitter's response.
"Your account appears to have exhibited automated behavior that violates the Twitter Rules: https://support.twitter.com/articles/18311 In order to continue safely using Twitter, please follow these steps: Click on this link: https://twitter.com/unlock_account/sms_confirmation.Select your country/region from the drop down menu, and then enter your phone number. Click “Continue” and Twitter will send you a text message with a confirmation code (note that your standard message rates may apply). Enter the code you received in the “Confirmation code” box and click “Confirm identity.”You will see a confirmation message that your account is unlocked. Once you confirm your identity, it may take up to a few minutes for your account to be unlocked. If you’re still experiencing an issue after confirming your identity, please reply to this message and provide us with specific details of the problem you're experiencing. We’ll do our best to help!" to sum up, twitter now appears to be desiring phone numbers from tor users in order to use their service. without feedback, i expect this will get worse. over the past 30 days, twitter has regularly locked me out and required password resets. this is the first time i've been required to provide a phone number to get my account unlocked. -- gpg key - 0x2A49578A7291BB34 fingerprint - 63C4 E106 AC6A 5F2F DDB2 3840 2A49 578A 7291 BB34 -- tor-talk mailing list - [email protected] To unsubscribe or change other settings go to https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-talk
