I've been using an NCC-1 for years to steer a pair of VE3DO loops, and with multiple Beverages for noise suppression. BPFs in the unit matter only if there are very strong signals around to overload preamps. I live in the mountains, far from any broadcast stations, so the only strong signals are my own while running SO2R.
