Hi Ed, I knew about the 2N3866 and 2N5109 disappearing so I bought a bunch of 2N3866 while they were still in stock. Same transistor die only with a lower Ft of 800MHz instead of 1500 MHz. I have used them for years in a similar preamp circuit. I can send you one or a few at $3.00 each which is what I paid. And a little postage. You are correct, don't buy the Chinese ones as the ones I received were so slow they must have been audio transistors.
