JSP files not working after upgrade

I had tomcat 3.2.1 with IBM jdk118 working on Redhat 6.2.  After upgrading to 7.1 java no longer worked.  Upgrading to IBMJava2-13 works with java and now servlets work, but JSP files, even the ones in the tomcat examples don't.  They abort in the compilation stage with a stack overflow error. Does anybody know what is wrong?   Thanks,  Bob Law
