I understand that Tomcat does not implement JMS. But it can be a JMS client for an external JMS provider. In fact, I have seen the following URL http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat- 5.0-doc/catalina/docs/api/org/apache/catalina/deploy/MessageDestinationRef.html This class has been written in order to support <message-destination-ref> element in web.xml In fact, this seems to be one of the additions to deployment descriptor in Tomcat 5.5. In my opinion, Tomcat 5.5 has this capability but it is not properly documented.
