http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=34873 Summary: Tomcat server doesnt startup due to whitespace in installation directory Product: Tomcat 5 Version: 5.5.9 Platform: PC OS/Version: other Status: NEW Severity: blocker Priority: P1 Component: Catalina AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I installed Tomcat 5.5.9, and it would never startup inspite of several restarts/shutdowns or even a reboot of the machine. Finally, after a deep google search and long reads through forums, someone reported that there might be a problem if there was a white-space in the installation directory. I had chosen the default place during the installation, which was the "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5.9" folder. After a lot of frustration, I uninstalled the installation, and did a fresh start at E:\Soft\Apache\Tomcat5.5.9, I didnt want to take any chances with any white-space, and it worked beautifully. Please treat this matter very seriously, as the default installation itself seems to give me a problem. Dutt.
