Open http://host/servlets-examples/servlet/SessionExample
Now, click on the 'Url encoded' link.
You will see the ';jsessionid=....' in the url.
Click the 'refresh' without the patch and you'll loose
everything after ';'.
Use the patch, and the url will be preserved.
