Hi,
I've just bumped on a installer problem caused by the fact hat the current tomcat version has changed to '5.5-dev'.
I was wondering if we can adopt some version naming like consisting of 4 digit groups.
Something like: A.B.C.D
A.B are product major and minor (so 5.5). If the C is odd number the D is build number. If the C is even number it's a release and D is zero if stable, 1 if alpha 2 if beta.
So: 5.5.1.1 -- 5.5.1.XX development. 5.5.2.0 -> first public stable release. 5.5.3.1 -> next dev releases. 5.5.4.0 -> 5.5.4 release. (Let's vote). 5.5.4.1 -> 5.5.4-alpha release. (Not that stable so voted as alpha).
etc...
Any comments?
I don't see any benefits, other that forcing Yoav to recompile the installer all the time ;)
(ok, maybe it's not a benefit, poor Yoav)
