he he, I was active on the jetspeed mailing lists for a while, and it's a known "feature". Jetspeed also "leaks" processes and memory badly when reloading the app... our dual 4GHz Zeon box with 2GB of RAM would run out of memory every half hour with just two developers, requiring full tomcat restart which takes quite a while. we simply turned out jetspeed portlets into JSPs and back-end classes, and can now turn pages round in less than 200ms, as opposed to more than a second with jetspeed.
