Originally I used tomcat 3.x. I don't need to set any web.xml. I only need to copy *.class. In tomcat 4.x, without specifying web.xml the servlets are not guaranteed "portable". I tried hard to set web.xml but still failed to execute the servlet. Finally I have no choice but to use tomcat 3.3, which I don't need to set web.xml.
