Henri, Not sure if this will resolve your problem but I found some bugs in Xalan 2.3.1 (which were already reported in bugzilla) so I tried out 2.4.D1 instead. This worked a treat. Can you upgrade(?) your xalan to 2.4.D1 and see if that works?
