This rings some bells on me, if i recall well the AJP buffer size is 8300 bytes in the JK2 Java side, can you test if this value is the same in mod_jk?, i know mod_jk2 had problems with that, and i simply fixed them using the same buffer size in the C part, and the problem you have are similar..
