I can't set up the Coyote Connector to run in HTTPS mode

With Coyote, you have to use a different socket factory.
Example:
    <Connector className="org.apache.coyote.tomcat4.CoyoteConnector"
               port="443" minProcessors="5" maxProcessors="75"
               enableLookups="true"
               acceptCount="10" debug="0" scheme="https" secure="true"
               useURIValidationHack="false">
      <Factory className="org.apache.coyote.tomcat4.CoyoteServerSocketFactory"
               clientAuth="false" protocol="TLS" />
    </Connector>

After you do that, I think it should work.
