I'm also looking at calling fis.available() and test for >0 just before we hang with fis.read(). So far my tests on Win2k show this throws an exception in most cases. The one that doesn't throw an exception is lpt<n>, which returns 0. Larry

Tomcat 3.2.4 doesn't appear to have a problem and reports a "not found" error. A quick test of Tomcat 4.0.1 returned a blank page without hanging.
