Hi all,
I've found it VERY interesting to read and learn about licensing in the past
several days. In my everlasting naivety, I considered this peripheral to
what's really going on - getting the open-source job done. Now I'm all the
wiser, and at someone else's expense ;)
Anyways, I would like to continue reading about this, but I have a problem
with all of the replies to Jon and the like. I noticed that he posted the
relevant snippet and link, to RMS's license page where he himself says that
the GPL and APL are incompatible. To me, and my gawd I'm the furthest from
an expert on this stuff than anyone,
game, set, and match.
I wonder if anyone close to the jBoss project would reply with the reason(s)
the GPL license was chosen? Was "protect young code" a supposition? I am
rather interested to hear Marc's response to all of this and what his plans
are for the licensing considering the APL and GPL are incompatible. Was the
APL ever considered? Perhaps if the APL got the same supposed job done, a
switch should be considered?
Hopefully things turn out well for everyone. Good luck!
