I have used Bill's qmail toaster on a number of servers, and always been plagued by double bounce messages to my postmaster mailbox. People commonly get this problem when they use a catch all email address, as chkuser won't reject mail to non-existent users at the SMTP level - but in my case it's because I have a lot of users who are often over their quota, which generate double bounces when spammers try to mail them.
I recently read about Russ Nelson's doublebounce-trim patch (http://qmail.mavdns.net/doublebounce-trim.patch) to discard these double bounces, and figured I would give it a go. Then I noticed that this patch is downloaded if you follow Bill's toaster instructions as of version 0.8.11 - 11/6/2006, however it is not actually applied. I've applied it, re-compiled and re-installed qmail and now my double bounce problems are a thing of the past - fantastic! I figured i'd just point this out for anyone who is looking for a similar solution. Bill, if you're reading this - I can understand why the patch is not included by default, but it may be worth mentioning this with instructions for people to optionally enable it when installing qmail.
