My advice: set it high and install the patch from <http://
linux.voyager.hr/ucspi-tcp/>. You can configure tcpserver to stop
accepting connections once the system load reaches a critical level.
This has worked very well for me. Allows for lots of slow sockets
(open connections that haven't timed out yet) and handles the case
where you get a bunch of sockets with big messages at the same time.
