Hi,

You dont need to recompile vpopmail, if you are OK with having the feature
"POP before SMTP". POP before SMTP means a POP user who has successfully
logged/checked in can relay. If you dont want this to happen, recompile
vpopmail as Bill suggested. I think this feature can be disabled via vqadmin
also but check, you might not need to recompile.

To recompile vpopmail, follow all the steps listed in toaster again... with
the additional switch that Bill mentioned.

If you do not have simscan installed than rebuild the tcp.smtp with only the
following line

:allow,QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/qmail-queue"

I also suggest looking at www.*life*with*qmail*.org to understand how qmail
works and what each file does.

Bill says "recompile vpopmail" and you say to change/recompile the
tcp.smtp file. The problem is that I don't have simscan installed.

So, in order to recompile vpopmail (my current version is 5.4.10), do I
just follow the toaster for the vpopmail section.. for instance, just do a:

./configure --enable-logging=v
make
make install-strip

And what about the other commands in that section?

make cert
make tmprsadh

vpopmailctl stat

?

I assume the other commands aren't necessary since it's already installed.

Sorry for the simpleton questions.. this is a production box, and I just
don't want anything to go wrong (or do the wrong thing), so I ask first.
thanks.
