I believe in SuSE it is called zlib. Make sure you have zlib and
zlib-devel packages installed.

You're missing the zlib compression library. On Debian, the packages
are called zlib1g and zlib1g-dev. Not sure about Suse, though.
Probably just zlib or libz.
