FWIW, just yesterday I was able to use qmail's syntax to help prove that email headers were forged for spam sent out using one of my client's domains. So I find it useful.

And no, I've never looked into doing what you're asking. I'm sure it's in the qmail source, though. Probably not too hard to change.
