Why not just use qmail-spamc? Uninstall qscanq and use qmail-spamc as a replacement for qmail-queue (set QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/qmail-spamc in your qmail-smtpd run file).

I see Tom's point here. I misread the original post I guess. So you don't want virus scanning ("without ClamAV")? Or you just are not using ClamAV for the scanning (some other virus scanner)? If you don't want any virus scanning, Tom is right - there really is no point to running qscanq.
