Hello. I am installing qmail toaster per http://www.shupp.org/toaster/ and
am at the section for Vpopmail. I am NOT going to have any virtual
domains. I am just a home user that wants only my domain to be served. Do
I have to install this package? I don't want to have to type my full
domain when I check email at squirellmail address, ie; [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I'd like to just use "john" and type my password... As per the definition
of Vpopmail: "Vpopmail is a virtual domain package add-on for qmail. It
can handle multiple domains on a single IP address, and none of the user
accounts are /etc/passwd or "system" accounts." I am not sure if I need
it. Any help would be appreciated...

Vpopmail can handle from one to many domains, if you want to use only the username for auth purposes, use the
--default-domain=mydomain.com in the configure script of Vpopmail, that way when using accounts on the default domain only the username would need to be specified (you can still also use the [EMAIL PROTECTED] auth style).

From a personal point of view using system accounts for email addresses can only carry out security problems, I dont understand why people keep using it when there is software like vpopmail.
