HOWTO: Turn your ezmlm (mailing list) to newsgroups
using nntp server and protocol.

The answer is colobus. What is colobus ?

+ colobus: an nntp server for perl and ezmlm
+ colobus is a news (nntp) server written in perl that serves up ezmlm
mailing list archives
  as newsgroups.
+ colobus are very social monkeys. there are eight species of colobus
that live throughout
sub-saharan africa. they are also amazing jumpers.
+ colobus is the software that powers the news.php.net news server.
(the software for the web interface to the news server is currently a
separate project.)
+ colobus is free to download, use, and distribute. to install,
download the source and follow
the instructions in the INSTALL file.
+ colobus requires the BerkeleyDB, Mail::Address, MLDBM, and Storable
perl modules,
  available from CPAN.

u can check it at news.php.net

telnet news.php.net 119
200 news.php.net - colobus 1.0 ready - (posting ok).

The installation is simple (just follow the instruction as INSTALL file)
[ i set it run as vpopmail.vchkpw as it can also be run as other user]

and be aware of perl library that required
like BerkeleyDB, Mail::Address, MLDBM and Storable perl modules.

Lastly, the web-interface for the newsgroups. :)

oh my ! can download it from http://cvs.php.net/cvs.php/php-news-web
(all files)
(written by jim winstead. no rights reserved.)

it looks like this http://news.php.net/group.php?group=php.announce

*** i wonder/hope that it can be included as official Bill shupp-
toaster ?

Interesting, but the web-interface doesn't appear to be searchable. Am I correct? If so, this is the same shortcoming that plagues ezmlm-cgi.

Regards,

Bill
