I'm not sure if this question is appropriate for this list. If it isn't and someone wants to direct me to another list that would be cool.
I'm running the qmail toaster inside of a protected network behind a firewall running ipchains. The firewall is proxying mail via an smtproutes control file. Here's the rub: I'd like to have users utilize smtp-auth in order to user our mail server as a relay (we have a lot of traveling sales reps, etc.), but its not working. I'm guessing its not working because they're attempting to relay off of our firewall as opposed to the internal server. Anyone have any ideas how I can securely get around this? My first thought was to simply have the firewall masq an additional routable IP to the mail server for this purpose, but if there's a more elegant way I'd like to pursue it. -- John Shireley Cook, Inc. jshireley @ cook-inc.com
