Have you ever thought of moving the sf repo to github? With sourceforge it is impossible to download the latest git snapshot without web interaction. The snapshot is only created _after_ clicking the 'Download snapshot' link. On github a https://github.com/<user>/<repo>/archive/master.zip will always give you the latest snapshot. (This functionality is needed for homebrew/MacPorts or any other port system, if you wanted to create a port that compiles the most recent commit point.)
