Hmm - I think I just saw this somewhere and added it to TODO more with the idea we should use it outside than provide it inside, I don't think anybody actually asked for it.
I'm not convinced this is a feature we need to lead the way on providing, it doesn't seem that anybody is asking for it. If we supported it outside tmux it would add something useful but even then I'm not convinced the status quo isn't good enough.
