Nicholas/Thomas, I think Vardan's problem is something that a new formatting variable called client_pid could make much simpler. Another typical scenario next to Vardan's case is when you want to access the current client's DISPLAY environment variable. Note that I can't use tmux's setenv/showenv commands for this because I often use the *same* session from multiple computers and still want to make sure my scripts work.
I know you can already get the pid via a client_tty<->pid mapping script and I think that's what most people do in their tmux scripts (including me). But is client_pid something you would consider supporting in tmux? -- Balazs ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Accelerate Dev Cycles with Automated Cross-Browser Testing - For FREE Instantly run your Selenium tests across 300+ browser/OS combos.
