In Konsole, I can hold down SHIFT when I click, and Konsole interprets this as 
"don't 
pass it into the terminal: interact with Konsole".  This allows me to open the 
menu or 
select+copy+paste when the terminal would normally capture all those clicks.

What terminal emulator are you using in OS X? Sounds like you just need an app 
that can deal with this.
