I think that rather than revert this, someone should add an option to
turn focus notifications on/off.

I can't recall in the original discussion whether this was originally
implemented and we waived it in favour of trying not to add yet
another option.  Either way, I mention it because the patch to
implement such an option is trivial if someone wants to get their
hands dirty with tmux for the first time.
