I don't know if any of this is expected behavior, but it doesn't work
for me. When I run 'autogen.sh', I get the following result:

  configure.ac:18: installing `etc/compile'
  configure.ac:9: installing `etc/config.sub'
  configure.ac:7: installing `etc/missing'
  configure.ac:7: installing `etc/install-sh'
  configure.ac:9: installing `etc/config.guess'
  Makefile.am: installing `etc/depcomp'
configure.ac:105: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_SEARCH_LIBS
If this token and others are legitimate, please use
        m4_pattern_allow.
        See the Autoconf documentation.
autoreconf: /usr/bin/autoconf failed with exit status: 1
  autoreconf failed

and when I attempt to run 'configure' anyway, I get lots of normal
output followed by:

./configure: line 4703: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
  ./configure: line 4703: `PKG_CHECK_MODULES('

In case it matters, I'm running this on Mac OS X 10.7.3 with autoconf
version 2.61 and automake version 1.10.

Thanks,
