Yes, for instance the window's remain-on-exit should be a pane's default
value for remain-on-exit. But it would be great if it could be overridden
for one pane. Here is my use case:

I keep a small pane at the bottom of the screen which I use to compile my
code and run the tests. At the top of the screen I usually have a vim pane,
and other panes that come and go for temporary things that needs to get
done.

I've set up a tmux key binding to relaunch that bottom pane and run "make
&& make test" in it. It's really awesome that I can have something run in a
different pane without switching focus to it. It feels like a 'build
console' in an IDE. I'd like to keep this pane 'remain-on-exit' so it
stays open after the tests have done (so I can check the results). On the
other hand, I'd like to open and close panes freely while working in the
same window, and it's an annoyance that remain-on-exit is applied to the
temporary panes I use.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ridiculously easy VDI. With Citrix VDI-in-a-Box, you don't need a complex
infrastructure or vast IT resources to deliver seamless, secure access to
virtual desktops. With this all-in-one solution, easily deploy virtual
desktops for less than the cost of PCs and save 60% on VDI infrastructure
costs. Try it free! http://p.sf.net/sfu/Citrix-VDIinabox
