Logged out of all currently running tmuxes, then ran: tmux -vvvvv ... from a fresh xterm. Did "vi foo" from it, then exited, and logged out. I think I see in tmux-out-10358.log that it did try to write the title, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if it is doing so correctly or why it didn't work.
