kirkland@x201:~$ export TERM=gnome
kirkland@x201:~$ tmux
open terminal failed: missing or unsuitable terminal: gnome

I tested this with tmux 1.3-2+squeeze1ubuntu1 from Debian/Ubuntu.

Is TERM=gnome support a recent tmux addition? I also checked out HEAD
from svn, and grepped the source code for special case handling of
TERM=gnome, to no avail.

In either case, the patch seems clean, simple, benign to unaffected
users, and there's already precedent in the very code for multiple
representations of F1-F4. Seems like this little fix stands to enable
even more users of tmux, no?

Cheers,
