Yes, you're absolutely right. It seems, that it is merely that fact,
that I'm using a #() command execution for the status line.
With this line in .tmux.conf:
set-option -g status-right "#(cat /dev/null)"
the symptoms are the same.
When I remove the #() part, it starts to work normally.
