I'm not a huge fan of this, since it then requires that all of my panes get
resized twice. Even the first resize can cause some applications to freak
out for a few moments, so avoiding a second one is preferable. I don't think
this patch is very complicated, and it retains all of the original behaviour
of the layout if you ignore (don't explicitly set) the new option.
