FWIW it has no known drawbacks with properly written libraries (IOW if you rely on libraries constructors in the sense of GCC __attribute__((constructor)) side effects for your code to work fine). I've been told this kind of ugly things can (may ?) happen for C++ code with heavy templating stuff.
