Thanks for your reply. I read through the document and found out that there is 
possibility that they created a custom bootloader for their hardware. I want to 
know for sure that the bootloader is in open source before starting any real 
development.

I think it's integrated in the chip. It's called bootstrap loader (bsl). 
There's quite a lot of documentation at TI's sites, eg:
