If you tell me exactly what you did, I'll see if I can fix it. If you follow the instructions at http://tinyprod.net/repos/debian/ then it should just work. And you want the msp430-46 package as well. That will give you 4.6.3. Also you want to get the tinyos source from https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-release (for release bits, currently 2.1.2) and if you want the development trunk https://github.com/tinyos/tinyos-main I'd recommend grabbing using git but you can also use zip or tar.
